The buffet breakfast was amazing
It’s very dark and dull and the furniture in the room was Very dated and worn out.

Lovely room, comfy bed, decent shower, tasty dinner in beautiful restaurant, good wine, finished off with hearty breakfast before heading home all for a reasonable price!
View could have been better but appreciate thats temporary as some building renovation work ongoing.

This hotel is highly recommended. The staff were very helpful and always on hand to support. The food was very tasty and the buffet breakfast was very well received; plenty of it, and with Haggis on the menu, what's not to like.

Beautiful old hotel but we were in the modern annex which was a bit of a shame as had I known I may have chosen a different property. However, room was spacious and clean. I had to ask where the restaurant was and what time breakfast would be served. Coffee bags would have been nice as these were available but not in our room. Breakfast was a buffet but due to high volumes there was a bit of a wait for stock to be replenished on the Sunday morning. Monday morning was absolutely fine. We booked in for dinner both evenings. First evening we were told that they were not busy. Nice set menu and decent drinks menu. Our starters arrived before our wine, we had to ask for our wine when they came to take away our starters. When our wine did arrive our server apologised that they had no wine coolers left as were very busy, not what the front of house said. Wine was poured out without any offer of tasting first, surprising considering this is a 4 star hotel. Both courses were very nice but as we didn't fancy any of the deserts we asked for Irish coffees. What arrived was a basic coffee with a slug of whisky in it..... We used the cocktail lounge on the Sunday both before and after dinner and it was lovely. Sunday dinner started out fine when wine arrive with a cooler before our starters, however, our server informed us that roast of the day was pork, it wasn't it was beef that was served pink. Fortunately, my other half happily swapped. When I informed our server I was met with a blank stare and no acknowledgement of the error or apology. Whilst there we used the leisure facilities on both evenings which was one of the reasons for choosing this hotel. Facilities were good but the complimentary towels were very well used.
Being put in a new annex that wasn't advertised as all the photos show a beautiful Victorian property. Untrained waiting staff in a 4 star hotel. Threadbare towels for leisure facilities.
