We have visited before, a wonderful house, great location, superb food and very courteous staff
The hotel, and apparently many other hotels in de Lake District, now apply a 5% service charge on tje hotel bill. At check-out, that came as a surprise, so our tipping for dinner had not been necessary in hindsight

Lovely Location and lovely staff in the restaurants
The staff at reception on our first day weren’t friendly or helpful, and the bathroom in our room smelled bad for the entire time we were staying, even though the fan was on, and there was no lift to take our suitcase upstairs. The hotel was listed as a 5-star hotel on Booking.com, but it is actually a 4-star hotel, and the service did not meet 5-star standards.
