This is a beautiful property is sweeping grounds leading to the lake. I really enjoyed sitting by the water and relaxing. The hotel itself has a country house vibe and its greatest asset is its staff - every single person I came across was friendly, smiling and welcoming. In particular Az and Abbie in the restaurant and Basil on reception were outstanding.
Our bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with a fabulous view over Ullswater that would be hard to beat. It also had a balcony which was such a pleasure. Dinner was superb - other reviewers have commented on the prices, but we ate at other nearby places and the prices were comparable.
The wifi wasn't great - it hardly stretched to my room.

We stay at this hotel a lot and love the location and friendly staff, plus the fact it’s dog friendly and easily accessible.
This time wasn’t the best, the room had a few very neglected areas and the WiFi was none existent. Unfortunately there was also a power cut, which was beyond the hotels control but it wasn’t managed very well. Everyone knew the storm was coming and had plenty of time to be prepared, but there was no water, we were unable to flush the toilet and of course no cooked breakfast available despite paying extra. Refunds should have been given, but it was just chaos.
