Perfect location and oozing with character
Nothing, it was perfect for my stay

It's a happy hotel, with pleasant, welcoming staff. You really can't beat the location, right in the middle of York, and the breakfast was excellent.
We were in room 15 on the top floor, with beautiful oak beams, one of which was so close to the top of the bed that you are unable to sit up and read, and would lead to a nasty bang on the head if you got up in the night, forgetting it was there. To be fair, being an adapted attic room, I don't see how it could have been laid out any other way, same with the bath in the room itself, rather than the bathroom. Minor niggles though, in no way detracting from our enjoyment of the stay.

Wonderful stay right in the city center with a delicious and varied breakfast. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming.

The food was exceptional, we had breakfast every morning which was really delicious, and had dinner here on our first night which again was really good. The manager he was great, very helpful and friendly. Location was fantastic right in the centre and near Yorkminster.
Unfortunately the rooms were not great, my shower I couldn't use as it went all over the bathroom. (room 8) I had to use my friends shower. The cleaning of the room was basic, used glasses/cups were not removed or cleaned, a wet towel left in the shower was left there, the bed wasn't remade which I would expect when staying in a hotel. No mirrors, only one in the bathroom, the TV didn't work, was on Classic FM all the time (which was lovely) but not what I wanted. Also when we checked in we had booked two rooms but they were either end of the hotel, again just not ideal.
