The location was excellent for breaking up a trip to Scotland although there was obviously lots to do round there as well. The restaurant area was very nice and the staff were all friendly. My room was a good size, clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. My dinner was very tasty if a little rich (woodland mushroom pasta- almost too cheesy which I wouldn’t normally complain about!) and my Eggs Royale for breakfast was very good.
It took 3 attempts to get a glass of water at dinner. Staff were lovely, just a bit inexperienced but other elements of service were very good. The lighting in my room was garish with no option to tone things down. The headboard reading lights were like interrogation lamps and the only other option was the ceiling light which was very bright. Also my TV didn’t work but I didn’t discover that until the morning. It wouldn’t tune into any channels or would ask me to log in to my personal ITV etc accounts which I wasn’t prepared to do.
