Very interesting property, nice to stay in an historic building well recognised for its architectural value. Excellent more recent additional building with modern rooms, bar/cafe and restaurant. Gym and pool modern and good quality equipment in the gym. We didn’t use the spa. We dined for 4 nights in the restaurant but only had mains. Food was excellent, well balanced, protein, carb and veg. Very tasty. Only one poor plate which was the fish and chips. The batter was quite soft and soggy. May have been a one off. Breakfast was comprehensive buffet, good, all we needed, but not very exciting.
Room spacious, excellent comfy bed and real pillows. Water, tea, coffee available. Room service menu felt a bit thin but we had excellent burgers delivered hot and promptly. Wi-Fi good. Iron and board.
The staff at the hotel were excellent in all the departments we came across, clearly well trained, helpful and focussed on their guests, one evening we were short on towels and a member of the brasserie team, took the initiative, sorted some out and delivered them to our door.
There were a couple of little things which prevented me giving the hotel an excellent. One day our room was not serviced, the tv picture quality was poor and no access to streaming services that we could find, which might have been us! There is a telephone in the room but no phone list that we could find . When trying 0 or 9 for reception it just rang out. We ended up dialling the main number from our mobiles.

Great Location. Clean rooms with tea making facilities.
Sunday morning breakfast was a shambles. No orange juice, apple juice, coffee machine had run out of milk and a lot of other items eg marmalade and jam had simply run out. The staff did replenish on request but for these basic breakfast items I don’t think that you should have to ask. Also on going up to a member of staff to ask for some items to be refilled, I overheard them saying to a colleague.. “well what do you expect if you come for breakfast at peak time”
