We had an amazing stay at Hatago Kintoen. We are both vegetarian and were struggling to find a ryokan that could accommodate us. Hatago Kintoen accepted our booking and went to such great efforts to give us an amazing experience and cater to all of our needs. The food was all fresh, delicious and had great variety. Our room was great too, with a private onsen on the balcony with a view over the town of Yumoto. All in all this was a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend Hatago Kintoen to anyone visiting the Hakone area, especially if they are vegetarian!

It is very quiet and peaceful, well-removed from light pollution or noise beyond nearby water. The onsen is wonderful and well maintained. Kaiseki was phenomenal! We had a memorable meal of delicate balance, lucious and high quality. Great selection of sake, shochu, and chuhai. Treat yourself to an in-room massage after kaiseki and onsen and sleep well as we did.
Very little negative to say except that it’s a bit of a chore to get to on foot due to a long, uphill walk from the train station, which can be tiring with luggage. Taxis in the area are hard to come by, so be prepared to wait for shuttles or walk uphill a distance.
