It’s an old school hotel. Just how I like it Probably suit slightly older person like I have become over the years!
Breakfast was old school as well. Need to modernise the menu

Location is great.

An excellent room overlooking the lake, with its own entrance just a few strides away from where I had parked; very clean and comfortable. I travelled in September but imagine the grounds would be even more appealing during the summer months. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was offered a replacement room (one of their suites in the stable block) following my observation about the noise, but I felt it would be inappropriate for me as a solo traveller to take advantage of this. It was a very kind gesture on the part of the staff, though.
Unfortunately, within 30 minutes of booking in, I had to return to reception to address the noise of the bass thumping through the floor from the speakers in the dining room adjacent to the room (and the breakfast room directly below). I was assured by the staff that the music would be turned off following dinner service and, as I was only staying two nights, I said I would just grin and bear it. The dining room did not live up to the rest of the hotel; it was rather sparse and impersonal, lacking the warmth and comfort of the rest of the area, and the white and yellow plastic flowers garlanded around the ceiling really do not create a good look.

Good location and dog-friendly facilities
Bedroom looking fairly worn, bathroom clinical/plasticky and quality of food in on-site restaurant poor. Staff hospitality generally inconsistent.
