An excellent nights stay at the Mill, really interesting location, ideal if you want to just chill in the Mill, or a short taxi trip to Chard. Beds were really comfortable

Stayed on a Sunday night in early-October ! I dont expect much from hotels I visit while on business but this was so unexpectedly good that i felt i must say something. Everything was, simply, perfect and I we were made to feel as if we were on holiday rather than business !
Room was lovely and very much in keeping with this rustic building!
Food (I ate from the Tapas menu) was exceptional and great value, and the staff were wonderful, friendly and seemed to be genuinely interested in what makes great hospitality! Truly welcoming and warm!
Would recommend !
Cant think of anything major that needs improvement!

We booked Hornsbury Mill after seeing a YouTube food influencer recommend it, and we weren’t disappointed. As “Greeno Eats” said in his review, “the easiest 10/10 I’ve given in a very long time!” The Taste of Hornsbury taster menu (available every day) was excellent — well executed, full of flavour and a real highlight of the stay. Breakfast was also excellent with a number of continental style and cooked options available.
The grounds are really gorgeous, with the lake looking particularly beautiful, with its ducks and heron.
We also saw 2 kingfishers and a flock of goldcrests on a tree just in front of the hotel which was a real surprise!
The rooms were spotless and comfortable throughout.
What made it even better was the staff: warm, attentive and genuinely lovely from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, and their friendliness really elevated the experience.
A lovely place with great food, grounds and wildlife, and excellent service. We’d happily come back.

The breakfast was really nice and the staff on the whole were very friendly.
This property is marketed as 4* but was adiquite at best. The room was ok but the shower was dreadful, the whole bathroom ended up wet through as there was no shower screen and the water pressure was dismal. The bed was far to soft so quite uncomfortable. It was very of putting to have the owner push the restaurant on us even before we arrived he was ringing us to push to get a restaurant booking and it became quite tedious.
The pictures on the website make the grounds look really nice but they are actually a little run down.
I would not go back to this hotel or recommend it.
