Marius is a charming boutique hotel in the Sirkeci area.
1. Excellent location and transport links - The hotel is conveniently located within a 7-minute walk of both Sirkeci and Gülhane tram stops. Eminönü tram stop and the ferry pier, where you can catch ferries to the Asian side of Istanbul or enjoy a Bosphorus cruise, are about a 15-minute walk away. The historic Sultanahmet area is also within a 20-minute walk.
2. Exceptional service - The service was outstanding — easily the best we experienced among all the hotels we stayed at during our 20 days in Turkey. The staff were consistently friendly, courteous and helpful, always checking if there was anything they could do to assist us. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made our stay especially memorable.
3. Delicious breakfast and complimentary refreshments - The buffet breakfast was very good, with a delicious selection of food and eggs cooked to order. We also appreciated the complimentary, freely available coffee, Turkish tea and water in the lobby.
4. A welcoming and functional lobby - Unlike some hotels where the lobby is cramped and breakfast is served in a basement dining room, Marius has a bright, spacious lobby on the ground floor that doubles as its breakfast area. After hours of exploring the surrounding streets and attractions, we often returned to the lobby to rest and relax, watching the world go by while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee offered by the staff.
As first-time visitors to Istanbul, we decided to experience both Sirkeci and Sultanahmet, staying in Sirkeci before our tour and in Sultanahmet afterwards. While we enjoyed our stay in Sirkeci, we found Sultanahmet more charming, with its distinctive historic atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. That said, Sirkeci is an excellent base for exploring Istanbul, particularly for its convenient transport connections and easy access to the surrounding attractions.
