The team are so welcoming! Brilliant staff, led by a warm and friendly couple with an incredible story, linking them back generations to previous owners. You can tell that their love for the place runs deep and it is run with real heart. I was made to feel everso welcome and I was looked after from the moment I entered!
The food is beautiful and even more the better whilst dining in a quintessential country pub with a roaring fire, nestled in a secluded part of the Lakes. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and great for vegetarian and vegan diets (not always easy to find!) Plus, proper country meats are your thing, there is a fantastic traditional country menu and you have to go to their smokery across the road! (The Screes Inn... candle-lit. Very atmospheric.)
The beers, ales, and gin made on site are simply divine and very reasonably priced for the area. You can try before you buy too and you can really feel their passion for brewing! Great range of wines too and an a very well stocked bar of spirits and other drinks.
Parking is perfect with spots immediately outside the pub and a bigger carpark across the road (free).
There is a decent drying room for muddy boots and wet clothes.
A breathtaking walk to Wasdale Head along Wastwater is literally on the doorstep.

Breakfast was great. Lovely staff. Nice little cosy pub. Excellent location. Fixed issue with broken bed promptly
First evening had a very uncomfy sleep in a broken bed but it was fixed first thing amwith no drama.
