The atmosphere in the place was good. Gentlemen playing music and singing had the whole bar singing. Staff were friendly.
Food was average. Breakfast egg on toast on egg on a slice of toast. Didn't cover the toast and wasn't butter. Husband full English better. More limited choice but acceptable. Food generally ok but not good value for money.
We were in annex not ideal. Nice room poor bathroom. Again ok but you want bit more than ok when away.

Lovely old building with a real fire.
The only thing was that the bed was on the firm side for my taste, but that is just personal preference.

The older lady who works there was much nicer in the morning, she was very abrupt on the early evenings. The rest of the staff were lovely, attentive and very polite and mannerly.
The shower pressure was horrific. It took literally 5 seconds to get a handful of water in the shower. It was so bad it was laughable. We were on the top floor.
The breakfast was random. Some people were given the verbal option of beans and black pudding and some weren't. They weren't written on the menu as options.
The Sunday lunch was outstanding. There was a generous amount of meat, it all looked lovely on the plate.
The bed was comfortable and clean. The room was basic but nice.
The bar feels like an old fashioned bar, it's quite pleasant to be in, quite nostalgic.
Would I stay again? No I wouldn't. I didn't enjoy the older ladies erratic moods. And I didn't enjoy the shower pressure.
But I did appreciate having somewhere to stay and be fed.
