The food was lovely and the bed was very comfortable.
The first night the general manager behind the bar was very abrupt. We were not told that breakfast was at a different hotel on the 2nd morning. The shower roof was mouldy and the shower needed unblocking. It was disappointing as we had stayed before a couple of years ago and it was lovely.

Good location for climbing scafell pike as only 15 minute drive to base. Lovely styling inside downstairs but rooms a bit basic.
Was quiet at night and the bed comfortable.
Hot breakfast was great. The options for continental were limited - some fruit would be a nice touch.
Service at breakfast was very poor - no recognition when arriving and lots of noise/giggling/swearing from kitchen but staff not active in the room. Evening bar service was better.
Check in also not welcoming - very abrupt and didn't seem to appreciate the custom. Didn't feel like good value for money.
