Location on one side of the A1 was excellent. The room was comfortable; bar prices were reasonable and the dinner was particularly good value.
The ensuite bathroom was perhaps a little dated but everything functioned perfectly. The dinner menu was a bit limited but much better that than too many lacklustre choices. What came out of the kitchen was excellent and clearly freshly prepared. The service was efficient and cheerful, too.

The old world feeling of the hotel.
No staff at reception which was a bit confusing for booking in.

It was convenient, clean and the pub part is nice and bright. Great shortbread biscuits in the room!
Cold room, luke warm only water for bath/shower. Checkin area feels a bit seedy, staff carried on their conversation complaining about something when I arrived to check in, woken to a 20-30 minute rant by staff outside my door complaining about other members of staff. Wifi was very poor which as someone who needed to work in the evening was very frustrating.

"The staff and owner are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Felt like a home away from home. Quaint old English inn."
