I enjoyed staying in this hotel. It's a noisy environment because the A1 is at the end of the garden, but one can hardly complain about that. The place wouldn't be there if the road hadn't caused it to exist, and it's very convenient to reach.
Three things it could do better.
1 Decide on its branding and stick to it.
It variously calls itself the Haycock Manor Hotel, the Haycock Hotel and the Haycock. As a result I drove past it and had to turn back because I thought the signage must relate to other hotels.
2 Lose the music.
Or at least, turn it right down. What was in the bar and restaurant was foreground music rather than background music, and of the cheesiest lift and lavatory variety.
3 Try less hard at breakfast.
Bacon was very thickly sliced, heavily smoked. This appeared to be an attempt at differentiation for differentiation's sake. More run-of-the-mill rashers would have been preferable.

Good pub over the road for dinner.
Insecure wifi - pity the expensive hotels couyldnt take a lkead from the cheaper quality ones and privide free secure wifi.
One guest had mobility issues and this hotrel was chosen from past experience of ability to park close to the room. Vehicle access to rooms is no lontger allowed resulting in a significant walk from car park to accomodation - wont stay here again for this reason.

Everything, our room was uograded without charge. The staff were all helpful,cheerful and genuinely seemed proud to work at the hotel which is rare to see. The rooms were lovely, the whole place was very clean and we sampled both the brasserie and Prevost both were wonderful and well worth the price.

Property is really pretty but the beds are awful, small ( not kingsize as advertised) and HARD!!!
Staff are pleasant but standard of service at breakfast VERY poor and not what you would expect for the money you are paying - would not stay again
