It is so tricky to find good family rooms when your children are at an age when they need a proper bed but aren’t old enough to be on their own. This was a fantastic sized family room, with seating area. Brilliant location, gorgeous hotel and delicious breakfast. Will definitely stay here again.

The staff were particularly helpful and considerate. Rachel at Reception and Charlotte on the maintenance staff deserve special mention. We bought a bouquet to be taken to a birthday lunch the following day. The hotel room would be too warm for them, so when mentioned to Reception, a water jug was loaned to hold them in our car, which worked perfectly.
The directions to the gym from the ground floor (main building) should be amplified. Getting to the walkway between buildings was fine but after that they vanished. I asked for directions from a staff member who led me to the door; she mentioned that I was the second person that she had directed that day.

We booked this as we’d known it for years when we used to live in Durham. The stay was a disappointment as we were kept waiting an hour for our meal & the general condition of the hotel is very worn & doesn’t represent value for money
