We chose the Royal Oak, as it was the perfect location on the way back from the West Country, one of us had already visited in summer and knew the food was good, so it was an ideal place to stay. On arrival Tom greeted just and a showed us to the room, which though compact had all that we wanted. The meal at the restaurant was excellent, with only minor issue which was resolved very quickly. The staff were very helpful, and even came up with a selection of cheese to go with a cheeky after dinner drink. Bed was comfortable, shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, very well cooked and the better half was very happy with her runny poached eggs. But bring your own marmite!! Chris served breakfast and was happy to chat.

Loved the food and drink. Our room was lovely and spacious and well appointed
Only real criticism is that there isn’t enough informal seating areas inside. There are two lovely couches and a few seats in the main bar area but that’s about it rest Otis for dining which I do get as thets where the money is

Previous occupant’s clothing left in wardrobe. Dirty wine glass left in draw. Grubby shower cubicle.
