The Ryokan is beautiful, comfortable and the food is excellently crafted. A must stay when you are in the region.

Typical japaneese high class Ryokan in the famouse onsen area (valley outside of the sourrounding villages). Everything is in an excellent condition. Very friendly welcomed by the owners. Rooms are japaneese style (we have had 2 floor room for 4 persons with privat onsen). We also used the hotel onsen which also was very clean and well equiped. The hotel onsen (outside) has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evening. There is also a happy hour avialable with free of charge drinks. We also booked the special japaneese dinner (Kaiseki: A traditional, multi-course Japanese dinner similar to Western haute cuisine, featuring artistically arranged seasonal dishes balancing taste, texture, and appearance). This was a fantasic experience for us guest from the western hemisphere. We also got good explanation of the food which was served. We came by rented car, but there is also a bus stop just ouside the Ryokan which some of the other guests used to get to Takayam train station.

The ryokan is beautiful, the meals were extraordinary, and the staff was very helpful. It had a very authentic feel.
It is a little complicated getting to the ryokan (but we made it!
Also, we prefer a queen bed.
