We stayed for to nights at The Kings Head and had an immediate good feeling as soon as we walked in to the reception. Pete was warm and enthusiastic in his welcome and showed us immediately up to our room. Comfortable bed, great view, plenty of space, a warm bathroom and turbo-charged radiator which warms the room up in minutes! The dark panelling and suits of armour set the scene - the cosy, private residents lounge is a really nice touch and good place to relax with a pint or cup of tea after a day walking the fells. Food is really tasty and very generous - we ate in both nights. Although we headed to Seathwaite to tackle Scafell Pike, you can hike up Helvellyn straight from the front door - so a great location. Thank you Pete and the team for a super couple of nights - we look forward to coming back!
Lighting the fire in the residents lounge would have given you an 11 😉

Friendly welcome and helpful staff.
Rooms were very dated especially the en-suite was like a caravan shower cubicle and quite mouldy.
