I booked an apartment at the Gabrielli Venezia Starhotels Collezione. This was a treat for visiting the Biennale and staying in 3-4 star places for the 3 weeks prior. Check in was good and the apartment was lovely - great facilities. I had an apartment overlooking the enclosed garden which was beautiful and I could go down and do yoga each day. There was a washing machine and washing powder was provided. The Rooftop bar is crazy expensive but has a fabulous vista.
I did not feel part of the hotel at all and was not treated as such. The apartments are separate and accessible via a side alley where there is a public toilet and the staff members hang out to smoke. I was not told about the washing machine and when I asked reception if there were any cleaning products (I cooked a meal one night and had breakfast in my apartment each morning) they told me no but they could arrange laundry at some cost. I bought detergent and later found it had been provided in the bin cupboard!
I had dinner at the Rooftop bar my first night and not only was there an extra Rooftop charge of around 15 EUR, they added an extra service charge automatically of 10%! And I could not put this on my room as I was told (when I was leaving) that apartments don't count.

Loved the overall style, the rooftop terrace, and the friendliness of the staff
The bed was just slightly too hard for my personal preference but still comfortable.

The amenities, the staff, the beauty of it all. The room was very spacious.
Close to some very busy water taxi and tour drop off sites. Had to deal with large crowds.
