Location
This cozy property in the small village of Ruppenrod—a district of Isselbach in the picturesque Gelbach Valley—combines historic elements with contemporary amenities and offers the perfect setting for rest and relaxation.
It’s the perfect starting point for short and long hikes—whether on foot or by bike—along the Gelbach River or further on to the Lahn River near Obernhof. Shopping opportunities are available in nearby Koblenz, Limburg, Diez, or at the Montabaur Outlet.
The vacation rental is part of a restored barn, the renovation of which was completed in 2024. It spans two floors and a maisonette area.
Activities
Enjoy your coffee in the sun on the south-facing terrace or sit in the shade under a tree in the height of summer. Set out on hikes right from your doorstep or discover the region’s romantic villages and sights.
From Ruppenrod, you can go on wonderful hikes along marked trails.
For example, the Buchfinken-Gelbach Tour, which starts in Giershausen. Mountain bikers will also have a great time here.
Lake Hertha is a wonderful place for walks and swimming in the summer. The nearby Lahn River offers boat tours by pedal boat, canoe, or kayak.
On the second Sunday in July, the car-free Gelbachtal Day takes place. On this day, you can enjoy the route from Weinähr to Montabaur by bike, on other wheels, or on foot.
Upon consultation before booking, there may be the option for riding lessons or excursions, as well as horse boarding at the nearby “Pferd & Ich” riding stable.
On the fourth weekend in July, bread is still baked traditionally in the old bakehouse in Isselbach. There’s also a restaurant there: “Zur alten Brauerei.”

Its vaulted ceiling with arches and lovingly exposed steel beams evokes memories of the building’s past as a stable. When the weather is nice, it’s just a few steps to the south-facing terrace overlooking the landscaped courtyard.
Just a few steps up from the living-dining area, the upper floor opens onto a spacious bedroom/living area that—in keeping with the open, loft-style character —echoes the typical barn architecture with its surprising ceiling height and exposed beam structure. A cozy sleeper sofa (2.00 m x 1.60 m wide) serves as a fully functional seating or sleeping option. The panoramic window offers a view of the courtyard and the surrounding nature. A fabric screen provides ample shade and sufficient blackout coverage. On the same level, the spacious shower room offers refreshment and relaxation.
The small maisonette area is accessible via a space-saving staircase. It offers space for a fully functional bed (2.00 m x 1.40 m wide), from which you can wonderfully count the stars as you fall asleep while gazing through the generously sized skylight directly above.
Suitable for adventurers with a head for heights who love something out of the ordinary.
On-site costs: A 30% deposit is charged upon booking. The remaining balance is due on-site in cash. Check-in is available from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Check-out is between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Other check-in and check-out times are possible upon request. Please contact us in a timely manner to arrange this, if necessary. Keys will be handed over in person on site or via a key box. You will receive the code for the key box well in advance of your arrival. A crib or rollaway bed can be provided free of charge upon request. Pets are not allowed.
