Traditional Japanese style inn of a medium size hotel. We stayed 2 nights, and the property is very convenient for Yudanaka station. Our twin room was quite large with tatami mat flooring which has a unique smell (not offensive but, for westerners, it’s a distinct aroma). There was a separate room for the toilet and another for the shower and wash-hand basin area (both were large and modern), and these were separated from the main bedroom, which also included a small lounge, fridge and closet space. Everything felt clean and well looked after. We especially appreciated the complementary yukata and coats to wear over them. These were in our room and we had several sizes and designs available from which to choose. My husband is bigger than most men and was able to use one that suited his size. We opted for one of the kaiseki dinner options and the food was first class, and beautifully presented. There were many dishes and the beef course was great quality. We were certainly very full by the end. The breakfast is traditional Japanese food which we are just not use to eating at the time of the day, but again the quality was good and quantity was a lot. The availability of onsen baths in the hotel was excellent; they felt clean and provided a choice between couples private onsen (at an additional cost) or the gender segregated onsen which also provided both indoor and outdoor baths. They were so relaxing. The staff were helpful and very courteous. We were able to be understood despite not being able to speak more than 5 words of Japanese.
We found the beds and pillows very hard which wasn’t to our preference.

This was one of the favourite hotels of my partner and I. The staff was very welcoming and kind, and the room exceeded our expectations. We had a spacious, traditional room with a lovely view of the mountains. The hotel provided free sake tasting for all visitors at certain hours and they also had locally made apple juice and some wines that you could try, accompanied with a variety of snacks. We chose to include breakfast and we were astonished to say the least. It felt like we travelled back in time and were dining like Japanese royals. They also had a lovely private Onsen with a nice view that you could rent for an hour.
We really liked the Japanese food but some tourists might prefer western breakfast or a mix of both cuisines as an option. We would've also liked a reminder of the private Onsen fee because we forgot of its cost.

Love the kaiseki breakfast, the english speaking staff and the sake night with lots of snacks to go with it.
