Misleading “pool view” and unexpected €500 deposit – very disappointing

The apartment was clean and was pretty big, quiet and not a far walk from the beachfront.

We booked this apartment specifically because Booking.com advertised it as an “Apartment with Pool View.” There were only three of us, and there was a cheaper three-bedroom apartment available for £885, but we deliberately chose the more expensive apartment because we wanted the advertised pool view. The photographs of the property also gave the impression that the apartments had balconies. When you see an apartment advertised as having a “pool view”, and the photographs appear to show balconies, it is understandable that you would assume you were booking an apartment where you could actually enjoy that view. After booking, I contacted the accommodation directly because I realised I was unsure about the balcony. I asked about it and whether I could cancel. The accommodation would not allow me to cancel, explaining that the listing did not state that there was a balcony. However, they specifically told me that the listing did state “pool view.” I therefore accepted that there was no balcony and continued with the booking, believing that I was at least paying extra for the advertised pool view. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was no pool view from our apartment at all. Another building was directly in front of the window and blocked the view. I contacted the accommodation again about this and was then told: “We do not have any apartments with a pool view.” This was extremely disappointing and confusing, particularly because before our stay they had specifically acknowledged that the listing stated “pool view.” We raised the matter with Booking.com, who ultimately provided us with €211 compensation. However, the accommodation itself refused to reach an agreement with Booking.com regarding the complaint. Another thing to be aware of is that the accommodation requires a €500 deposit. In my experience, this was not particularly obvious when making the booking, so I would recommend checking the deposit requirements carefully before booking.

The location was the only good part of the stay

it was great, plenty or restaurants, plenty of activities, plenty of fun

the location was in-between the main strip veronicas and the large las Americas shopping mall district with variety to choose between a crazy night out or a stroll to buy friends and family gifts from Tenerife.

getting to the apartment is a steep 4 flight climb of stairs, if you don't have strong legs or are not youthful i would not recommend coming and going often as it will tire you out if you do it too much.

Awful.

Very old smelly building. They asked me to pay a 500e deposit for one night and requested this payment through an external link. The building and neighbourhood were extremely dodgy and felt we could be robbed at any time. The furniture is old and the safe inside of the wardrobe is not available. We reported a rotten smell coming out of the sink in the kitchen, I couldn't even stay longer inside of the kitchen before of the smell. I won't be back there and I don't recommend the place. We were charged 90e for cleaning the flat which was used by 2 people for less than 20 hours. I would deserve it as robbery. Please do not book this place.
