The staff was very friendly and helpful! They directed us toward a restaurant that could accommodate our dietary restrictions, which we would have struggled with had we not gotten that assistance. The facilities were modern and clean. The room we got was incredibly spacious, much more than we would have gotten from a normal hotel room. The pillows were also much more comfortable than what I ever get in hotels. If I ever bike the Shimanami Kaido again, I will definitely return to this lovely hostel.

A really nice stay at Tonari Guesthouse on my Shimanami Kaido biking trip. The couple hosting me were so nice and had organized everything very thoughtfully! The whole house is extremely clean, nice and beautifully furnished in Japanese style. They even provided me with supplies to visit a nearby bath house and carrot sticks for the rabbits on Rabbit Island. The bed was so comfortable and I slept so well. The place definitely exceeded my expectations!

I thought it would be a traditional Japanese house with classic facilities, but to my surprise, the interior was Western-style with plenty of cozy spaces to relax. The beds were also very spacious. I usually really dislike mixed dorms, and this property only offers mixed dorms—however, the privacy here was excellent even in a mixed room.
On top of that, the hosts (a lovely couple) were incredibly friendly. I ordered the 1,200 yen curry dinner, which unexpectedly came with chicken and fresh vegetables—it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend staying here, and you definitely shouldn't miss the curry dinner!
