Misleading Listing and Serious Privacy Violation

The advertisement for this guesthouse is misleading, and they have a camera pointed directly at the guest's bed, which is extremely unacceptable and disturbing. Before booking, I carefully reviewed the description and guest reviews, all of which stated that this was an entire apartment. Some guests even posted photos from upstairs and downstairs. But when we arrived, the host only let us choose one floor. I tried to reason with him, saying the advertisement clearly says “the entire place is yours,” but he kept repeating one sentence: “You didn’t pay enough, only one floor.” What does that even mean? I booked and paid through Booking.com — the full price was charged — yet I had to choose between either the upstairs with no kitchen or TV, or the downstairs with no view and barely any natural light. The first night we were locked downstairs and couldn’t go up — it was very frustrating. The next morning, I ordered breakfast. The host finally showed a smile and said if there’s no one upstairs, we could use it, and he unlocked the door. In fact, this guesthouse only has one listing, and after I booked, it showed “sold out.” So how could there be anyone else? We spent a relatively pleasant second day there — about 95% of the time we were either outside or downstairs watching TV. Around 11:30 PM, I was upstairs enjoying the view when suddenly the door was slammed open and I heard a man shouting loudly: “What are you doing upstairs? Who told you to sleep on the bed?” I replied, “You told us earlier that we could use the upstairs if no one was there. And I wasn’t even sleeping — I was just sitting on the bed.” He said, “I have a camera. I saw you on the bed!” At that moment, I felt truly horrified — they have a surveillance camera pointed directly at the bed. He immediately forced me to go back downstairs. I barely slept that night, worried they might have cameras pointing at the other beds as well.

Terrible experience in Bali island. I’ve visited Bali six times, and this was by far the worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in.

Comfortable and very good value

Close to the Botanical Garden, a lot of food options around the property, big TV with Netflix, spacious bathroom

Recommended place but need to improve

The location is very good, has complete facilities. the area on the 1st floor is very clean and the hot water on the 1st floor was functioning properly. The hot water on the 2nd floor was not working but the staff immediately came to fix it. The check-in and check-out process is very easy.

the 2nd floor area is less clean. couldn't enjoy the balcony area on the 2nd floor and the rooftop because it was so dirty.
