Oemah Tepi Sawah is a charming little bungalow resort nestled near Mount Batukaru, surrounded by lush forests, bamboo, and the wonderful sounds of nature, with a beautiful small rice field right next to it. The little houses are built from reclaimed ship timbers, offering a simple yet cozy shabby-chic vibe. Our bungalow was completely open to nature, featuring a mosquito net over the bed and a stunning view of the rice terraces—simply romantic! The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and you can see the loving touch of the owner, Dewi, everywhere you look. If you want to experience authentic Balinese life far away from the bustling tourist crowds, this is the perfect place for you. A 30-minute walk to Subak Piak is highly recommended, and if you are lucky, you might catch a full view of Mount Batukaru (it is best to go early in the morning). Tours and transfers can be booked directly with drivers and staff from the neighboring villages, which is a wonderful way to support the local Balinese community. Since the resort is located up in the mountains, it can get a bit cooler and rainy at times. A big thank you to the lovely team at Oemah Tepi Sawah for a short but truly wonderful stay!

A very charming rural place with good vibes and ambiace. Great food and lovely staff. Had a cooking class with lots of fun. Absolutely recommend.

The location is great. It’s situated in a tranquil and calm location surrounded by forest and little rice fields. Perfect if you want to relax and retreat from the business of Bali. The staff were very kond and welcoming and the food was superb.

Tucked away surrounded by jungle and rice terraces with views across Tabanan, well worth finding. Welcome Kopi, won me over immediately. The team are genuinely warm and make you feel at home. The room is comfortable, love sleeping under a net with only the sounds of the jungle. The best sleep in a very long time. Evenings are truly magical, the jungle does seem to come alive. Adorable microbats, whimsical fireflies, frogs, crickets they all are on show. Mornings start with coffee, chickens and quiet sounds of daily life. We loved the ‘no menu’ breakfast and dinners (the team do ask if you have requirements), nice touches like a card with ingredients etc that really help to appreciate what is involved in your meal. Each dish was delicious. They have cooking classes, massages, tours ..you can do a lot or little it’s up to you. We did jungle and temple tour with Komang, lots of laughs. Komang shared so much knowledge. Other than a tour with Komang we chose to simply enjoy the quiet, while reading and watching what was happening around us. We have traveled to Bali many many times, however this stay is one of our favourites. Would not hesitate in recommending, have already suggested to our daughter and her fiancé as they would love the tours and the quiet experience. Thank You and we hope to visit again.
