Highland Basecamp was a great stopover en route to Mull. Our room was cosy and the kitchen area was well setup and a nice area to chat to fellow travellers. We did a lovely evening walk along the shore following the signs about the silica mine and were also lucky enough to see a pair of otters.

Handy for the Corran ferry, serviceable for a night
This seems to have been built / refurbished quite recently, but in a very cheap and slap dash fashion. The one window (in the bathroom) refused to close and I had to ask staff for assistance in shoving it shut, it not being fitted properly. Everything has a general DIY not fully finished vibe, for example the wooden bunk ladder being rough and unsanded in parts and scratches you. Overall it’s fine but just bizarrely rushed looking, random screws in the wall and no art, bathroom sliding doors that only have a narrow opening, no charging points by the bed etc.
