About this apartment rental
Apartment No. 6 is located on the first floor in the garden wing of the building. This rear section has only two stories, making the apartment an attic unit. The apartment is accessed via a covered walkway and is therefore somewhat separate from the stairwell. That alone makes the apartment something special. It was selected for a comprehensive renovation into a high-quality studio apartment with a loft-style feel.
All lightweight partitions were removed from the former 3-room apartment. A load-bearing stone wall inside the apartment was left in place and accented with a historic industrial window. The window comes from a factory in Hamburg and was sandblasted and carefully painted as part of the renovation. Together with the new panoramic skylight above the spacious bed, it brings plenty of light into the apartment. The skylight has an electric exterior blind for anyone who needs it dark to sleep. All other exterior windows in the living area have manual exterior blinds. The bed, with two 120 x 200 cm mattresses, offers plenty of space for two and is also well-suited as a family bed. The large skylight above the bed offers a fantastic view of the often impressively clear starry sky here on the sparsely populated Baltic Sea coast, where there’s little light pollution.
Two diagonal roof beams run through the apartment. This alone makes the apartment’s floor plan very varied. The beams, made of rough-hewn lumber, were exposed during the renovation, sanded down, and finished with a warm-toned oil (Naturtrend Zweihorn Hard Oil). This feature brings a touch of nature into the otherwise clean-lined apartment. The historic character of the roof beams is echoed in the antique Art Nouveau pine cabinet. Oak was used as an additional wood type. The gently rounded window sills, the rustic-looking parquet flooring in the living area, the large bed, and the dining table are all made of oiled oak.
The kitchen is equipped with an induction cooktop (4 burners), an oven (with convection), and a dishwasher, making it possible to cook proper meals here. If dining out isn’t quite as appealing due to external circumstances, this can be a major selling point. Kitchen tools such as good pots and pans, a kitchen scale, and baking dishes round out the kitchen. In our view, microwaves are a relic of the 1980s; we’ve intentionally omitted them for good reason. You can find high-quality food in the area at the DEMETER Klostersee Farm (dairy products, meat, bread, and the usual selection of organic goods) and at Bauer Schütt (fruits and vegetables).
The seating area in the kitchen, featuring a semicircular table made of solid, plant-oil-treated oak and two cozy lounge chairs, offers a beautiful view across the countryside to the Baltic Sea during the leafless seasons. In summer, climbing roses bloom right outside the window. The second seating area in the living room features a “surprise armchair” made of turmeric-colored leather and a chaise longue with elegant fabric upholstery, an electrically adjustable seat width, and a view through the large balcony door all the way to the Dahmeshöved Lighthouse. Fans of bar stools have also been catered to in the kitchen.
In the small bathroom, the available space was optimally utilized by using the recessed area for a shelf with two solid glass shelves, the custom-fitted triangular mirror above the sink, and the enameled, ultra-flat shower pan (90 x 120 cm). The glass shelves are highlighted by LED strips recessed into the tiles. The bathroom is bathed in a harmonious, bright light thanks to three recessed spotlights in the ceiling and a separately controllable spot light above the mirror. The bathroom features a triangular window with translucent ornamental glass.
Thanks to fast internet access via LAN or Wi-Fi, the apartment is also well-suited for working.
