About this apartment rental

The "Bachmann's Widow" Vacation Rental – Your Vacation Home in the Heart of Naumburg
Welcome to the historic downtown area of the cathedral city of Naumburg! Our vacation rental has been lovingly renovated and is located in a historic, listed half-timbered house dating back to the 18th century. You’ll be staying in the garden house at Wenzelsstraße 5—a very quiet location, yet right in the heart of the old town.
With the “Bachmann’s Widow” vacation rental in the World Heritage city of Naumburg, you’ll have an ideal base from which to explore the city and its sights, as well as the beautiful surrounding area and neighboring towns such as Freyburg, Bad Kösen, and Schulpforta.
Just around the corner, you’ll find St. Wenceslas Church with its Baroque organ built by master organ builder Zacharias Hildebrandt. He completed it after three years of construction, after which it was personally inspected by Gottfried Silbermann and Johann Sebastian Bach. You can enjoy its music every Wednesday and Saturday, as well as during numerous concert evenings. The tower of St. Wenceslas Church offers a fantastic view of Naumburg and the surrounding area.
Naumburg’s World Heritage Site, the cathedral, is just an eight-minute walk away after strolling through the market square and along the pedestrian zone. The cathedral is the city’s most famous attraction; be sure to set aside plenty of time to explore it. From the crypt to the many impressive works by the Naumburg Master and the two rood screens, there are also modern details to see. Be sure to visit Uta and Ekkehard and the other donor figures in the west choir.
You can take the historic tram from 1892 from the train station to the Salztor, circle the old town, and get off at the Nietzsche House, for example, to visit the Nietzsche Museum. From here, it’s just a few steps to the vacation rental on Wenzelsstraße. At the market square, you’ll find the City Museum, which might also be a worthwhile destination for you.
In addition to many interesting streets and squares, there’s also plenty to discover outside the city of Naumburg. Worth mentioning here are the town of Freyburg an der Unstrut with its imposing Neuenburg Castle, the spa town of Bad Kösen with its salt graduation tower and the Käthe Kruse Doll Museum, and the historic Landesschule in Schulpforte.
By bike or on foot, you can explore the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region and sample the various wines right where they’re produced. We have about 50 winemakers here who cultivate wines such as Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Portugieser, and Blauer Zweigelt—among others—on approximately 735 hectares.
Throughout the year, you can experience highlights in Naumburg and the surrounding region, such as the Saale Wine Trail, Wine Spring on the Unstrut, the Hussite Cherry Festival, the Pottery Market with Wine Festival, the Winegrowers’ Festival in Freyburg, Advent weekends in courtyards, cellars, on towers, and in the vineyards, and in December, a cozy little Christmas market with an ice rink. This list is by no means exhaustive—you’re sure to find even more.
We cordially invite you to visit this beautiful city of Naumburg, whether or not you have a special occasion. We’d be happy to assist you if you have any specific ideas or requests.
