Livefortuna Hotel

What a great hotel and a lucky find! This was my second stay here, and it is still one of the best hotels in this price range. First time I am leaving 10/10 for a hotel! The location is just between the main square/Forbidden City and the financial district, 12 minutes' walk along a large boulevard to Jianguomen Station, and well connected to every area, including the airport. On the hotel street, there are many restaurants, shops and services. The hotel itself is very modern and clean, with an emphasis on cleanliness. The rooms are functionally designed, and the kitchenette is a bonus for travellers like me who could not stomach foreign food for days on end. Reception is happy to provide any utensils needed, as well as anything else I requested. I loved the ladder-style bedroom, where you sleep comfortably but don't sacrifice space. The ladder retracts, and there is ample living and storage space. There is free laundry on-site, with detergent and dryers included. The breakfast is large and versatile, with new items every day and everything kept fresh. Since my first stay, it has become more Western, as the hotel now seems to attract mostly Russian and European tourists and appears to be fully booked. There is definitely something for everyone, from eggs prepared in many ways to salads, noodles, stir-fried vegetables, dumplings, steamed root vegetables, sausages, bacon and noodle soup. The gym is better equipped than many European hotel gyms, with a great view. The pool is not as good as shown in the photos. It is small, and only one person at a time can use it for swimming, with a lifeguard constantly watching over it. The large living room area is very cosy for spending time in, with bookshelves, an aquarium and piano music. All hotel staff are super friendly and helpful with any question or request. With the limited information available online for many places in China, I was very happy to have booked this hotel and highly recommend it.

Location and breakfast

Nothing in particular

good location for everything nice and clean and have a good breakfast

I had a generally positive stay at LiveFortuna Hotel in Beijing, although I believe the hotel is somewhat overrated for its price. The breakfast options were good with a nice variety of Chinese and Western choices. However, the location is inconvenient as it is far from the nearest metro station, making it difficult to explore the city, and the rooms, while comfortable, are quite compact. Overall, for the money, I would choose to stay somewhere else next time.
