I stayed at Vy Khanh Guesthouse during my time in Ho Chi Minh City, and it honestly exceeded my expectations.
The room was compact but didn't really feel cramped at all. There's no elevator, which is worth knowing, but I found my room exceptionally clean, comfortable, and more than adequate for my stay. The location was also great for exploring Saigon.
What made the experience especially memorable, though, was Ms. Vy and her wonderful hospitality.
From arranging a smooth airport pickup to sharing genuinely helpful local recommendations, she made it so much easier to explore the city at my own pace. I especially appreciated the detailed map she'd put together, with places to visit, local food spots and useful tips all highlighted. It was such a thoughtful and practical resource for discovering Saigon.
Whether I was looking for good dried Vietnamese spices or other things to bring home to Canada, she always had practical suggestions that pointed me in the right direction and helped me save quite a bit of money.
I also really enjoyed the little conversations we had. Ms. Vy was always approachable and happy to help. When my return flight plans changed, she was incredibly flexible, making it easy to extend my stay and adjust my airport drop-off time. That made an otherwise stressful situation so much easier and more comfortable.
As a solo traveller, I really appreciated having somewhere comfortable to return to after a full day of exploring, while also having someone knowledgeable and welcoming to turn to whenever I needed advice.
I had such a wonderful time in Vietnam, and my stay at Vy Khanh was definitely part of what made Saigon so enjoyable.
Thank you so much, Ms. Vy! I really appreciate you and your hospitality, and I'd happily stay here again whenever I return to Saigon!

The location is excellent, right next to walking street however, you cannot hear any of the noise.
Vy is lovely and on arrival provided a map and local tips which was really useful and provided a phone number for if we got lost or had any issues.
It is walking distance to most attractions.
For the price, it is excellent value, comfy bed with great air conditioning all fitted in a small room.
Would recommend more pillows however this seems to be on level with all hotels in Vietnam.

I had everything that I needed in my room, aircon, wardrobe, hairdryer and even a little fridge. The locación is in the first distric a bit hide but in a charming alleyway close to everything :). The owner was also nice and she was attentive all the time. I would recommend it if you are looking for some privacy and rest :)

The price was good and the owner is very nice. And the WiFi works well
There were little ants in the room from day 1. They looked like the small non-biting ants so I just dealt with it because I didn’t think doing a room change would make a difference. Thought maybe all Vietnam hotels would have them but the hotel I moved to after this is another district, didnt have any issue with ants or pests of any kind.
It was odd that not only did they not provide even a single water bottle to guests, but also when asked to refill bottle I bought myself, they didn’t have a l filtered water refill station either.
Location is another thing. I personally didnt love the craziness of district 1 and would not recommend staying there if you don’t like to party. The food in that area is also not so good. There’s better more local food options in other districts.
