Nice old fashioned hotel, loved the timbered entrance hall.
Staff pleasant and helpful, No breakfast but cafes opposite. Room was fine& very good value for money.

We originally booked a double suite, however, the room didn't quite match the picture a d so asked to change rooms. The staff were very helpful and showed us 3 more, the twin room was delightful, painted wooden beds, very light & airy, but then we saw the Dickens Suite & game over. I challenged anyone not to be completely in awe of this room, with it's soft, lighting, traditional wooden furniture, not to mention the 4 poster bed with all the trimmings. To top it all off there was an open plan sitting g room with the comfiest sofa ever, and the bath tub, ooh you could just sink right in, delightful. The sloping floor just added to the overall charm.
Difficult to park as there were quite a few cars and the drive in & out was quite narrow.

The location! There is a well priced car park though availability is not guaranteed. There are public car parks nearby. The kettle (broken lid), tea bags & instant coffee in the room. Though basic, the room & bathroom were clean. There was plenty of hot water to shower. Huge choice of eateries nearby.
The room - overlooked a narrow alleyway next to a restaurant & pub - both noisy at night. The bathroom was very basic (shower over the bath) with an old fashioned noisy fan which came on with the light switch. Apart from Reception, there were no visible staff, as no food or drink are served - no dining room or bar, currently operating. No drinking water in the room or for sale.
