One of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in, exceptional.

The location is excellent, The owners are very friendly and provide a great service and a delightful and plentiful breakfast.
What let the property down were some minor repairs that still needed attention e.g. where paintwork had blistered. I understand that a program of change is taking place and this may well be picked up in that program, however, they would not take long to remedy.
Additionally there was an accumulation of dust in the metal spindles of the bedstead which had obviously been neglected over some time. These were not an issue for me and didn’t impact my stay, whereas for some people this would be a problem…. For me, I would be happy to stay there again and will no doubt seek to book when next visiting Ambleside.

My stay at Compston House was very enjoyable. The owners were helpful, patient and attentive and were also friendly. The breakfast was excellent from the choice of things to eat to the quality and competence of how the food was cooked and served. Well done.
