Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, all freshly prepared, lovely coffee. We stayed in the Elizabeth Fry room, was spacious enough, nice bathroom with a lovely deep bath, tea and coffee making facility, fridge with water provided. The bed was amazing, really comfortable and fantastic pillows to accompany. Very friendly and helpful staff, the hotel itself is great, it's a proper old school traditional English hotel in a historic building, very tastefully decorated and well laid out. I added some "negatives" but in reality they were not a big thing for us, I just thought it worth noting to help others.
Parking. No onsite car park, the available parking is in a private car park 5 minutes walk away. The hotel is situation on a very steep hill, it is at the lower part of the hill, as is the car park. Not a major problem if you have good mobility, but could be troublesome if you have difficulty walking. The road is also cobbled, so adds more difficulty if you have poor mobility or want to dress up in heels. The bedroom we stayed in - Elizabeth Fry - everything squeaks. The bed squeaks, the floor is uneven and squeaks, when you walk across the floor it moves all the wooden furniture, which also squeaks. The Bathroom window looks out on gardens, the loo is right next to the window which isn't your typical opaque glass, it's just normal glass. There is a blind but it's very thin and I doubt it would block much of the "view" from the garden :-)

Nothing at all

The bedroom was delightful and we welcomed the little touches of a chocolate each day and daily replenishment of the chilled water. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was spotless with soft towels.
The stairs were steep but we knew about that before we visited. There was a slight problem with water pressure in the mornings. For me the lilies in the honesty bar were a problem as I am allergic. I spent the three days hoping that the lilies in the breakfast room would not come into flower - perhaps an allergy alert for asthmatics could be included in hotel details.
