One of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in. I had a private room that seemed like a hotel, with a clean contemporary vibe. Really nice common areas. Quality events on offer, I went to the Maiko dance event and learned a lot. Really kind and professional staff. Excellent location near metro, shops and plenty of vegan restaurants. I stayed an entire week here, throughly enjoyed it and would definitely stay again. Kyoto is a more expensive city and I thought Piece Sanjo offers really good value for the location. It is a short metro ride away from Kyoto station and it was worth it to be in such a walkable, interesting neighbourhood.
The hallways are a little dark but that may be intentional for energy efficiency? I can’t think of a down side to this place, it was pretty baller!

I was very impressed by the design and architecture of the hostel.
The room for two with its own shower and toilet was pretty tiny.

Great location in Kyoto. Communal parts are quite nice.
No cleaning of the room for 4 nights. Very basic amenities.
