A friendly pub with rooms opposite the theatre. It was warm and welcoming in the middle of the storm. The room was comfortable with everything we needed. And with river and theatre views.
No complaints at all

Very central location. Lovely rooms with all amenities.
Excellent breakfast.
There was a group of us, and a couple of the rooms were very cold at night, couldn’t get the heating to turn on.

It was very close to the Royal Shakespeare Theater, which is why I came to town. Beds were quite comfortable (on the hard side) but pillows weren’t so good. Also, the breakfast was very good.
A blown fuse left us without power overnight. It is a very simple place, good for sleeping but not much else.

The location was excellent, very central.
The staff were welcoming and friendly.
The bed was so hard, my husband and I hardly slept all night - you may as well have been sleeping on the floor with a blanket. We considered contacting somebody in the night but assumed all beds would be the same. So uncomfortable. For that reason we wouldn't recommend or stay at Pen and Parchment again.
