Location close to Haymarket Station, and walking distance to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Friendly staff quickly addressed an issue with one of the windows. Simple takeaway continental breakfast. Spacious room.
Climbing the stairs to our room with our luggage.

Location. Size of room. Easy access to public transport. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Towels were not of great quality.

Lovely spacious room that was very quiet. Good location. Comfortable twin beds. Spotlessly clean. Didn't use the bath as only there for one night, but nice to have the option of a shower or bath. Good selection of pastries and cereal bars, plus hot drinks, available which was handy when they don't provide breakfast - great for a quick bite to eat before we headed off in the morning. Would definitely stay again.
Our toilet stopped flushing, but had been fixed by the time we got back from our event.
Water for shower could have been hotter.

The hotel did some Halloween decorations and the staff helped with getting our suitcases up multiple stairs. Staff was very helpful during the whole stay, providing ductape and listening to our complains, even switching us up to another room after the first night. Location was a big bonus, close to the city centre and Haymarket station.
The hotelrooms weren't clean (mouldy and hairs everywhere) and the first room we stayed in didn't have a working shower; it didn't have a temperature switch, almost no water running and it was cold. We couldn't shower and were staying for a midweek, very happy we could switch rooms to a better shower but that one took long to get warm too and the water pressure still wasn't great.
Toilet in the first room kept running after use. Very loud noise came off it. Neighbours were loud during the night and kept the hallway lights on, which lightened our room too. We had no sleep at all.
The second room was so much better, on the ground floor so also no stairs to walk, which made our stay much more pleasant.
Overall we still wouldn't come back with the risk of getting that first, unusable room again. It should get renovated first, this wasn't worth the money and discomfort. The second room was exactly what we expected and should have gotten in the first place!

"I was not really expecting it to be as nice as it was as the photos make it look a bit shabby and old- fashioned but it had such charm, the beds were comfy, the over bath shower was powerful and the p..."
