We were only staying one night, the evening meal was excellent, the staff were really attentive and cheerful, the room was small but had everything you could need for an overnight stay. Continental breakfast only served before 10.00am which was plentiful, lots of options, good gluten free array of breakfast goods served on a separate table with a notice on the toaster gluten free bread only which was really thoughtful. It’s a charming old inn which is great value for money. We would stay there again.
Parking but to be fair there is very little land to extend the car park.

The Mortal Man is a traditional pub with hotel facilities. The food is excellent and the staff are superb. Very friendly and helpful. Best suited to people who are mobile as the area is hilly and quite remote. it is an excellent location for walking and those with dogs. That said the hotel has a lovely beer garden with lovely views. We like the village atmosphere and a great base to explore. Parking is also really good for a small hotel.
Good gluten free options on the menu. The food is excellent.

Parking - no dedicated parking for hotel guests
Room - I was put in a room the entrance to which doubled as an emergency exit. So I didn’t feel particularly comfortable that technically people could access my room without a key. The room was also boiling hot at night. Not sure why, as the heating didn’t appear to be on. Couldn’t open windows. Bathroom floor tiles were incredibly slippery…would not be ideal for older people.
Staff - not the friendliest hotel staff I’ve come across. Also, every time I needed to find someone at reception, nobody was around and I had to wait several minutes. Then when I finally found someone, they each told me they didn’t have authority to answer my query and would have to find the manager
