The reception was posh. It set an expectation that we were about to experience something great.
Also, it was close to the venue (Hammersmith). The staff were very friendly and warm.
It was the shabbiest, dirtiest room I have ever stayed in.. I can appreciate an older room with outdated decor, but the caked-on minerals on the circa 1980's taps in the bathroom was a bit much. There was almost no water pressure. The bed was like sleeping on a,slab of concrete. The chef's kiss was the strobing light above the "bar".
