The surroundings for breakfast , particularly the dining room were stunning. Nice breakfast and service were appreciated. The hotel is very close to the university campus which is great if you need to be there early morning. There is a bus stop nearby to take you to the centre and the service is frequent.
The room and the ensuite bathroom requires an update as furniture and the bathroom facilities appeared tired, dusty. The bathroom had some paint coming off, particularly around the bath tub and the tub looked worn out. The walls are thin and we could hear the next door guest talking on the phone easily.

The hotel is conveniently located on the main road just a few kilometres outside York. As parking in York city centre is both limited and expensive, we chose to walk into town using the easy-to-follow directions provided by the hotel. To get back to the hotel we took a taxi but in no time.
Our room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and there was always plenty of hot water available. For dinner, the hotel recommended the pub across the road, and the suggestion proved to be spot on. The food was excellent, and there was an impressive selection of ales to choose from.
The breakfast options, consisting of English and Continental choices, were adequate, although the system could have been explained and organised a little better, as it was not always clear how it worked.
Good coffee is an essential part of any breakfast experience, but unfortunately the coffee machine struggled to cope with demand during busy periods. In addition, the quality of the coffee itself was somewhat disappointing and did not meet expectations.

Check in staff member super friendly
Building is tired needs a refurb and a good clean, poorly signposted, breakfast staff cold seemed it was an issue us being there, breakfast very poor in terms of taste and presentation. Car park stated as free.... it's not so ended up with an extra charge not impressed
