Loved this place! We just wish we had another night we could've stayed because there was so more to see in Hokatika than 24 hours allowed us. Cute house and we loved the location so close to everything. It was chilly when we were there, so a little uncomfortable for us considering we weren't quite adapted to the cooler NZ weather yet after having just come from OZ the day before. The owner left the stove/fireplace in the living room full of wood and starter material, and there were various radiators available in rooms to warm us up. The only issue we had was on us - we just weren't in the house long enough to get a fire started!

Lovely old place and typical of its era. Well organised and equipped kitchen, great beds and lots of interesting bits and bobs of kiwiana to check out or reminisce on. Very close to shopping and beach. Very clean and tidy. I highly recommend this place and will be back.

We had a lovely stay in this charming old-style villa. Everything was clean and tidy on arrival, and the location was perfect—close to amenities, with easy walking access to both the town and the beach. There was plenty to do in the area. The house itself was warm and inviting, with a fire all set and ready to go, which heated the space quickly. The beds were very comfortable, and despite there being only one bathroom for the six of us, it worked surprisingly well and was never an issue. The shower was also excellent.Overall, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Our queen mattress made it difficult to sleep as it was soft and tended to sink somewhat in the middle. Tried to sleep on the lower bunk bed in the same room and it was even worse. Good location but we would choose someplace else to stay in Hokitika next time.
