An Authentic Sri Lankan Stay with the Most Wonderful Hosts! We had the most wonderful stay at Guest Inn Avendra in Ella and couldn’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm welcome from the lovely family, who greeted us with tea and biscuits. Our room was homely, clean and smelt beautiful. We loved having our own private entrance to the balcony area, complete with a lovely swing seat where we could sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning mountain views. Watching the mist roll in and out over the mountains, surrounded by the sounds of nature, was truly special. As the weather was rainy on our first evening, we decided to eat at the guesthouse and were so glad we did! We enjoyed delicious, authentic Sri Lankan food, including fish curry, rice and kottu. The family are incredibly attentive and made us feel so well looked after throughout our stay. Their eldest son was especially helpful, suggesting activities and thoughtfully putting together an itinerary for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a wonderful traditional breakfast of Sri Lankan pancakes, coconut rotti, omelette and a selection of fresh fruits. As we hadn’t tried some of the fruits before, their son kindly explained what each one was, which made the experience even more memorable. The family also have a tuk-tuk on site and kindly drove us for a massage on our first day and to Little Adam’s Peak. They gave us clear, detailed instructions for walking to the Nine Arch Bridge, including the timings of when the train would pass through, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also recommended Clay Pot restaurant for dinner, which was absolutely amazing! What made this stay so special was not just the beautiful surroundings, comfortable room or delicious food, but the genuine kindness and hospitality of the family. They are warm, friendly, respectful and incredibly thoughtful hosts who go above and beyond to make your stay memorable.

We had a fabulous couple of nights. Imantha and his family go out of their way to make sure you have a perfect stay. The breakfasts were out of this world, so many exotic fruits, beautifully fried eggs, and all sorts of other delicious Sri Lankan specialities. The location is about little away from town but they organise transport to and fro at very little cost. This is Sri Lankan hospitality at its best. We will be back, definitely!

Imantha and his family were the nicest hosts we’ve ever come across travelling. We were well so looked after from start to finish. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything you needed. The views over the mountains were amazing and the breakfast was a real highlight. Cannot recommend staying here highly enough. The rooms are a short tuk tuk from Ella town and Imantha was always on hand to run drop off and pickup when we needed for a small fee.

Warm and family-ran. Excellent hospitality and beautiful view to wake up to. Excellent breakfast and food. Really good value for what you get.

Had to take a tuk tuk to and from main road but the hosts always helped and prioritised you.
