Nice location in the center of Essen, walking distance to the shopping street with all the restaurants and bars. Clean and new, the room was a bit on the small side but it had a cute balcony.
I received an email to complete the check in online. I did it and then the system somehow messed up the booking so the second guest was showing as a primary guest (although the booking and payment were made by me). Also, the online check-in option gave a (not very user-friendly) hotel map, where you would potentially be able to choose the room, which is a great idea, but it didn't really work as the room was already selected and it was impossible to select another one...

- large rooms
- complementary water on arrival
- gym
- homeless people literally everywhere around the hotel
- hotelroom not cleaned ones. No instructions anywhere visible or communicated
- room coffee not replaced
- cafetaria unattended during the afternoon cannot order anything
- not up to standard of other NH hotels

The hotel is ideally located in the city centre. The room had everything I needed and was clean, modern, comfortable, and quiet. The reception staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options; despite deciding at the last minute to have breakfast and arriving just 30 minutes before the end of service, there was still an excellent selection available.
Parking can be challenging in the surrounding area, as on-street spaces are very limited. We were fortunate to secure the last available space in the hotel's garage. As the hotel garage is relatively small and cannot accommodate all guests, it would be helpful to clearly advise customers during the booking process to reserve a parking space in advance or provide information about alternative parking options nearby.
