I like the style of the Washington Square Hotel - old, well kept, charming. It's very well located - in the Village, adjacent to Washington Square Park, subway lines converge at West 4th St., just down the street. The dining area is cozy, offering hot coffee and tea and pastries (as they last) throughout the day. Service was courteous and altogether excellent.
I was disappointed to find that the fitness room was being remodeled during our stay.

Location was spot on as friends living over teh road
No tea making facility in the room - had to go down to the lobby area to get hot water. Also bar closed for renovation which was inconvenient

Excellent location dor a New York feeling that does not focus on skyscrapers but on neighborhoods.
Renovations done with taste and respect for the old house. Friendly and helpful staff.
This is typically european: a shower head with a flexible hose and a height attachment would be a real improvement. Otherwise a good bathroom with good water pressure and the temperature can be well adjusted.

History and friendliness of staff, breakfast area a nice touch, lovely coffee…
Price considering no on site restaurant or bar due to refurb work. Also, because I checked in late I didn’t get the upgrade I was expecting (although they say it’s not guaranteed).. Room really basic.. was told I had a view but it was basically a roof with lots of pipes!
