In a leafy section of Victoria, just a ten minute walk from the Royal BC Museum, Parliament and the harbourfront. Horse-drawn carriages clopped by afternoon and evening, and there was a large male deer walking down the street with us as we walked home from dinner one night.
The noise from pub customers who gathered on the street on Friday night went on until midnight. Hotel staff had to go out and ask them to be quiet.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Old but charming building within easy walking distance of downtown and beacon hill park.
Old building so heating control was very limited. My room was uncomfortably warm and I had to keep the windows open all night which made traffic and siren noises louder.
No elevator so make sure you can carry your luggage up a few flight of stairs.

Our cottage was spacious and comfortable for four people, though had just one bathroom. Walking distance to many places of interest, including Beacon Hill Park. Neighborhood is very quiet.
The toilet was a bit small and low for us. A larger, taller one would be an improvement.

Well placed hotel a short walk from the harbour.
It’s a bit dated and needs new carpets. Worst of all there is no lift. It’s a steep climb with your bags just to get to reception. When we arrived, no-one offered help with our luggage.
