The Space:

Timber House is a modern interpretation of the historic desert cabin, wrapped in western red cedar with custom white oak millwork and walls of glass. Every room frames the desert while keeping its privacy, and the open living spaces lead straight out to the pool, hot tub and outdoor kitchen. A king primary and three queen bedrooms, each with its own thermostat, share two and a half bathrooms and sleep up to ten, which suits families and groups. Set the outdoor table for ten and let the cedar warm in the late sun.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The backyard opens to panoramic mountain views. The 30-foot pool has a spacious tanning ledge, and the oversized 10-person hot tub is there after a day of hiking. Daybeds, adjustable umbrellas and several seating areas make it easy to spend the day outside. An outdoor kitchen with a propane BBQ, a large prep island and a refrigerator sits next to covered dining for 10, and the private courtyard has a built-in propane fire pit with seating. With minimal light pollution, sunsets and stargazing are a highlight.



-Living Area-

Cedar and white oak finishes and oversized windows keep the living room warm and full of natural light. It flows into the kitchen and dining areas, so the whole group stays together. Built-in Sonos speakers play music inside and out, controlled from the wall-mounted iPads or your own device.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully equipped chef's kitchen has premium appliances, generous counter space and a large island. The dining area next to it seats everyone, and the covered outdoor table and outdoor kitchen are set up for meals outside.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Timber House sleeps up to 10 guests. The primary suite has a king bed, and three more bedrooms each have a queen bed. For groups of nine or ten, a queen air mattress with bedding is provided. Every bedroom has its own thermostat. The two and a half bathrooms have modern finishes and spacious showers.



-Surrounding Area-

Joshua Tree National Park and the Joshua Tree Saloon in downtown Joshua Tree, with its restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and boutiques, are the easy outings from Timber House. Pioneertown, Pappy & Harriet's and the Red Dog Saloon make a good night out.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

The Neighborhood:

Timber House is in Joshua Tree, minutes from the shops, restaurants and galleries of downtown and the national park entrance. The neighborhood is quiet, with mountain views.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Other Things to Note:

-Additional Guests-

The home sleeps eight guests in beds. Reservations with more than eight guests will incur an additional fee of $35 per person, per night for the ninth and tenth guests. This fee goes directly toward additional cleaning and laundry.



-Pool Heating Fee-

Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.

During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.

-Hot Tub Heating-

No fee to heat the hot tub! Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool and hot tub are serviced twice weekly, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that service times may vary slightly depending on our technician's route.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

For your security, there are exterior cameras around the property, which monitor vehicle access and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private outdoor areas, including the pool and hot tub. Noise decibel monitors are also on the property.
