Swim in the saltwater pool, shower outdoors on your bedroom's private patio, then move to the outdoor living room as its propane fireplace and overhead heaters take the edge off the night. Three bedrooms, three baths. Mediterranean light, desert stillness.



The Space:

The Kassita is a modern Mediterranean home on five acres of open desert in Landers, with neighboring homes only visible in the distance. Plaster walls, white oak cabinetry and layered textiles inspired by Ibiza, Mykonos and Marrakech give it a warm, minimalist feel, and large openings connect the rooms to the patios and mountain views. Outside, a saltwater pool, an in-ground hot tub, an outdoor living room and a fire pit spread across the property. Two king rooms with private outdoor showers, a queen ensuite and extra sleeping space bring it to three bathrooms and up to eight guests. Stock up before you arrive; out here, the remoteness is the point.

-Outdoor Amenities-

Five acres of open desert give The Kassita real privacy, with mountain views and wide-open sky all around. The saltwater pool and in-ground hot tub face sweeping desert views. Built-in seating surrounds the propane fire pit, and the outdoor living room has a sculptural propane fireplace, plush seating and overhead heaters for cooler nights. A shaded dining area with a BBQ is set for long meals outside, and several lounge areas let you follow the sun or the shade. Sonos plays across the patio and pool area.



-Living Area-

The living room centers on a built-in sectional beside a sleek gas fireplace, with a large smart TV and an integrated Sonos sound system. The converted garage is a cinema room with an oversized sofa, a Moroccan rug and a large smart TV. Games and books are on hand throughout.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has white oak cabinetry, brand-new appliances and a fully stocked setup, plus a coffee station with Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee. The dining area just off the kitchen has built-in seating, and large doors open straight to the patio, the outdoor dining area and the BBQ.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary suite has a king bed, a spacious built-in closet and an ensuite with a soaking tub, a large walk-in shower and a double vanity, plus a private patio with an outdoor shower. The second bedroom also has a king bed, its own private patio with an outdoor shower and direct access to the hallway bathroom. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a private ensuite bathroom. For larger groups, a queen air mattress is available for the living room, and the cinema room's plush couch can sleep one more (eye masks are provided, as the garage door has no curtains or blinds). All bathrooms have plaster built-ins and an earthy finish.

The Integratron and its sound baths, La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room are the easy outings from The Kassita, with downtown Joshua Tree and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park for longer days.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



The Neighborhood:

The Kassita is in Landers, a beautiful but very remote area about 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store. All homes here are on acreage, giving guests wide open space and privacy. The last 0.2 miles to the home are dirt roads.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Kassita is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Other Things to Note:

-Pool Heating Fee-

Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.



► $250 per night



During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.



-Hot Tub Heating-

No fee to heat the hot tub! Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.



-Pool and Hot Tub Heating-

Only the pool or the hot tub can heat at one time. If you use the hot tub while the pool is heating, pool heating will pause while the hot tub heats and resume once the hot tub is turned off. Pool heating is usually not needed from May through September.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool and hot tub are serviced Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there are exterior cameras facing the front entry, the backyard and the pool, which monitor vehicles and occupancy. They are not monitored unless an event like a party or injury occurs. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, such as the outdoor showers.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
