About this apartment rental
Summary:
Two bedrooms, one bathroom and space for four: a small double room and a twin room with two single beds, plus a bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's a top-floor flat reached by stairs, and once you're inside everything is on one level, with an open-plan living and dining room under large skylights. Canoe Lake is about 4 minutes' walk, the seafront and South Parade Pier a few minutes further, and Albert Road's restaurants about 10.
The Space:
Sleeping
Bedroom 1: a small double bed (a UK small double is narrower than a US full).
Bedroom 2: two single beds, good for children, friends or colleagues.
Both rooms have room-darkening blinds and a portable fan, and linen, pillows and towels are ready for everyone.
Bathroom
One bathroom with a walk-in shower, with shampoo, shower gel, hand wash and a hairdryer. Fresh towels are left for each guest.
Kitchen and dining
Oven and hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, toaster, kettle and a coffee machine, with coffee pods, tea, milk and sugar to start you off. There is no dishwasher. The dining table folds out for meals and folds away to free up space.
Living
An open-plan room under big skylights, with a sofa and a Smart TV. It is bright even on grey days, and quiet, as the street is residential.
Everyday practicals
Fast Wi-Fi, a laptop-friendly table, a washing machine in the kitchen, an iron and ironing board, heating, cleaning products and hangers. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit are in the flat.
Travelling with children
Children are welcome. The stairs come up right outside the bedroom and living room doors, so toddlers need watching. There is no garden, but Canoe Lake has space to play. There is no cot at the moment; please bring a travel cot if you need one.
Bringing your dog
Up to two dogs are welcome, and a pet fee applies. Canoe Lake and the seafront promenade are minutes away for walks.
Good to know
The loft is at the top of the building, up the stairs from the shared entrance, with no lift. There is no outdoor space of its own.
Guest Access:
The whole flat is yours. Self check-in is by lockbox from 4 pm, with the last arrivals at 9 pm, and departure is by 10 am. The shared front door is on Bembridge Crescent. On-street parking is in the MF permit zone, with one permit included in the rental.
The Neighborhood:
Whitwell Road is a quiet residential street in Southsea, Portsmouth's seaside quarter. On foot: Canoe Lake about 4 minutes, with the beach and South Parade Pier just beyond; Albert Road for restaurants and live music about 10; Palmerston Road for shops and cafés about 15; Southsea Castle about 16. Families can walk the flat promenade to the Blue Reef Aquarium and Clarence Pier. By car: Eastney Beach 6 minutes, Gunwharf Quays 7, the Spinnaker Tower 8 and the Historic Dockyard, with Nelson's flagship and the Mary Rose, 11.
Getting Around:
Several bus routes stop close by. Fratton station, about 28 minutes on foot or a short bus ride, has trains to London Waterloo and Southampton. The ferry port is about 9 minutes by car.

ID check and deposit: after booking, the lead guest completes a short ID check and deposit step with our partner SafeGuest. You choose either a Damage Deposit of £300 (your card is saved and nothing is taken up front; it can only be charged for a claim SafeGuest approves after check-out) or SafeGuest's No Deposit fee of £35 (a one-off fee paid to SafeGuest). If you can't use the photo ID check, message us and we'll arrange a short video call instead. Please don't send ID documents by email.
