About this house rental
The house is located in the Bavarian Oberland, about 60 km south of Munich toward the Austrian border. It is located in Fischbachau, more specifically in the Birkenstein district below the pilgrimage chapel, which was built in 1710 in honor of the Mother of God based on a model of the “Holy House” of Nazareth (Loreto Chapel). The Fischbach stream flows through the garden, and when the windows are open, the sound of its rushing water can be heard inside the house. There is a view of Kalvarienberg. Sometimes in the evening, a trombonist plays an evening song there. In the summer, sheep graze there.
From the house, you can set out directly on foot to the Kesselalm or the Bucheralm, and from there continue on to the Breitenstein or the Wendelstein., If you’d prefer to avoid or minimize elevation gain, you can take a walk to the Schwaigeralm (30 minutes), the Winklstüberl (45 minutes—famous for its cakes and pastries), or along the Leitzach River. In Fischbachau, there’s a very nice heated outdoor pool, and in Schliersee, a picturesquely situated beach with a restaurant and bar on the lakeshore.
Fischbachau calls itself the “Holler and Herb Valley.” The tourist office offers corresponding hikes and courses designed to promote sustainable tourism.
In winter, the Spitzingsee and Sudelfeld ski areas are just 20 minutes away., When there is enough snow, the hiking trail to the Kesselalm becomes a toboggan run, and the cross-country ski trail begins down in the village. At Spitzingsee, there are also higher-altitude cross-country trails and toboggan runs.
