The fenced backyard keeps the day full, with a sauna and hot tub, hammocks and tanning chairs, a seasonal cowboy pool (closed November through March), and ping pong, foosball and an arcade game for the competitive. Nights gather at the fire pit, then move inside to the big communal fireplace. Room to roam, and no one around to hear you lose at foosball.



The Space:

Winters Haven is a quiet, secluded five-bedroom, three-bathroom home on 2.5 acres of private land, reached by a short dirt road and surrounded by open desert, with only one neighbor semi-close by. A big communal living area with an indoor fireplace brings the group together inside, and a casita adds extra space. The fully fenced backyard is set up for long days outside, which suits families and larger groups who want room, privacy and quiet. Out here, the loudest thing all night may be the fire.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The open backyard is fully fenced and looks out over miles of desert. During the day, cool off in the cowboy pool, which is a seasonal cowboy pool rather than an in-ground pool and is closed November through March, or stretch out on the tanning chairs and hammocks. The shaded patio is the place to eat and lounge outdoors, with outdoor dining and a propane grill. As the evening cools, move to the sauna, soak in the hot tub or gather around the fire pit under the stars. Cornhole and lounging areas round it out.



-Living Area-

The main communal area is big enough for the whole group, with an indoor fireplace for cozy nights and smart TVs that connect to your Netflix and Hulu accounts. For game time, there is an arcade game, a foosball table and a ping pong table.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave and all the basic essentials, including pots, pans, plates, cups and utensils. Take meals out to the shaded patio and fire up the propane grill.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Winters Haven has five bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a king bed. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have a queen bed, and Bedrooms 4 and 5 each have a queen bed and a couch. The home has three bathrooms. A starter kit of towels, shampoo, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels and trash can liners is provided.



-Surrounding Area-

Winters Haven is in Joshua Tree, set apart in quiet open desert. Joshua Tree National Park is there for hiking, climbing and sunsets among the boulders, and the towns of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley offer cafés, galleries and shops. Out here, the nights are dark and quiet, and the stars are the main event.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



The Neighborhood:

Winters Haven sits on 2.5 acres of private land surrounded by open desert, with only one neighbor semi-close by. The large driveway fits up to 4 vehicles. Cell reception may be spotty depending on your carrier; T-Mobile sometimes has issues. The last 0.4 miles to the home are dirt roads.



Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Winters Haven is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Some spots on the dirt road may be difficult for low-riding cars.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Pool-

The pool at Winters Haven is a cowboy pool, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy pool is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-EV Charger-

The EV charger is Level 2, type J1772, 50 amps. Teslas need the SAE J1772 charging adapter that comes with the car by default.



-Parties and Gatherings-

Parties and large gatherings are strictly prohibited at this house. Failure to follow this policy will result in a $500 fine.



-House-Specific Rules-

► No external speakers allowed.

► Please shower before and after using the hot tub and cowboy pool, and rinse off oils and lotions before entering. No pets of any kind in the hot tub or cowboy pool, and no alcohol near the water. Please heat the hot tub with the cover on, and do not add hot water from the stove, as it will damage the hot tub. Keep the covers on and secured after use; they are for insulation only, so please do not stand or sit on them. Children must be supervised at all times. Please avoid the hot tub immediately after service, when chemical levels are higher than usual for a short time.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub and cowboy pool are serviced Mondays and Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed due to the owner's severe allergy.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there is an exterior camera located at the gate, which monitors vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, including the cowboy pool and hot tub areas.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone reception at the property is limited and varies by carrier. Wi-Fi is available.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
